"Beef" Nielsen debut

The Netflix dark comedy series "Beef" debuted at the #4 position on Nielsen's streaming charts during the week of April 3-9 this year.

"Beef" premiered on April 6, giving it only 4 days of availability for that first week.

  • According to Nielsen, "Beef" was viewed for around 962 million minutes during those first four days on Netflix.
  • "Beef" will compete for Emmys in the limited series category, though creator Lee Sung Jin has suggested he has potential ideas for future seasons.
  • The show became embroiled in controversy after a 10-year-old podcast episode resurfaced in which supporting actor David Choe relates a story about committing sexual assault; Choe later claimed the story was fabricated.
  • The #1 Netflix series for the week of April 3-9 was "The Night Agent," which is now the streamer's fifth most-popular English-language series of all time.
