Nielsen has revised the viewership figures for Super Bowl LVII

Nielsen has revised the viewership figures for Super Bowl LVII, stating that the Kansas City Chiefs–Philadelphia Eagles matchup is now the most-watched in history.

The statement from Fox News says there was an error in the original figures from Nielsen.

  • The original figures showed that 113 million people watched the game. Adjusted data reports that 115.1 million people viewed the game.
  • The company attributed the error to "irregularities in the encoding that enables Nielsen's measurement of TV viewing as well as issues with the out-of-home measurement."
  • The viewing figures cover Fox, Fox Deportes, and digital streaming services that showed the game in the U.S.
  • The revised figures surpass the previous record of 114.4 million from 2015 and represent a 2% increase from last year.
