Nielsen has revised the viewership figures for Super Bowl LVII, stating that the Kansas City Chiefs–Philadelphia Eagles matchup is now the most-watched in history.
The statement from Fox News says there was an error in the original figures from Nielsen.
- The original figures showed that 113 million people watched the game. Adjusted data reports that 115.1 million people viewed the game.
- The company attributed the error to "irregularities in the encoding that enables Nielsen's measurement of TV viewing as well as issues with the out-of-home measurement."
- The viewing figures cover Fox, Fox Deportes, and digital streaming services that showed the game in the U.S.
- The revised figures surpass the previous record of 114.4 million from 2015 and represent a 2% increase from last year.
