Asian eyewear startup Lenskart raked in $100M

Asian eyewear startup Lenskart raked in $100M in fresh funding from private equity firm ChrysCapital.

The transaction involved primary and secondary share sales. The new funding brings the firm's total funds raised over the past 12 months to $850M. The firm will use the proceeds to expand its offerings and reach.

Last March, the firm raised $500M in funding from Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

  • Roughly $450M of the $600M across the two fundraisers consists of secondary offering transactions.
  • The current round and the previous funding are an extension to the firm's Series I round.
  • The SoftBank and Alpha Wave Global-backed startup sells eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and other eyewear accessories.
  • Lenskart has 2,000 stores across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
  • It expects to manufacture 20 million pairs of glasses next year.
