Canadian network Citytv greenlit a new spinoff of "Law & Order," set in Toronto. The new series, "Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent," will follow an elite squad of detectives as they investigate high-profile crimes throughout the city. Citytv already airs the full line-up of NBC's American "Law & Order" shows. - Production begins this fall in Toronto for a Spring 2024 debut.
- The format of the series will be modeled on the original "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," which was set in New York and starred Vincent D'Onofrio; investigations are viewed from the perspectives of both law enforcement and the criminals themselves.
- Universal Television plans to distribute the series outside of Canada as well.
