Rick and Morty

Adult Swim plans to continue producing new episodes of "Rick and Morty" without original creator and voice actor Justin Roiland.

In a new interview with the French version of Premiere Magazine, Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen and "Rick and Morty" producer Steve Levy discussed their plans for moving the animated sci-fi comedy series forward, including recasting the titular duo.

Roiland was charged with felony domestic violence and false imprisonment in May 2020; he pleaded not guilty, and prosecutors ultimately dropped the case in March 2023.

  • Nonetheless, Roiland will not return to "Rick and Morty"; he was also dropped from the Hulu series "Solar Opposites" and "Koala Man," which he also produced and for which he provided several voices.
  • Levy told Premiere "the writing quality [on 'Rick and Morty'] has never been better... I don't think anyone will bat an eyelid hearing the new voices."
