In September, South Korea's LG Uplus Corp. will launch a Virtual Campus metaverse for Yonsei University, a leading institution in South Korea.

This initiative aims to enhance contactless education and host large-scale events in cyberspace.

LG Uplus developed this virtual campus using its metaverse platform, Uverse, to address online education limitations.

  • Features include chats with professors, class status checks, announcements, schedules, and even the sale of university products.
  • The online campus can host up to 1,000 users simultaneously in its metaverse auditorium and open-air theater.
  • Large events, such as expert lectures, sports tournaments, and Yonsei's major festival Akaraka, can be held on this platform.

Higher education institutions are looking to incorporate more technology to provide the services students and staff are after, from plunging into the metaverse to enhancing video solutions.
