Netflix gained 5.9 million subscribers globally in Q2 2023, an 8% increase, as it cracked down on password sharing.

This success has prompted Netflix to expand "paid sharing" to most remaining regions.

Netflix did away with multi-household password sharing in the U.S. in May.

  • The company has reported increased revenue in all regions where paid sharing was implemented, with sign-ups surpassing cancellations.
  • According to its latest earnings report, the company added nearly 1 million new subscribers in the U.S. and Canada in Q2.
  • Its revenue growth came in at 2.7% YoY.
  • Netflix anticipates further revenue growth, including from sign-ups of its new ad-supported plan.
