 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum set a goal for 25% of the UAE's transportation to be fully autonomous by 2030.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority is seeking to scale the number of autonomous vehicles offering ride-hailing services to 4,000 by 2030.

  • General Motors' Cruise has been mapping Dubai since July 2022 for a planned launch of autonomous rides in 2023.
  • WeRide announced its plans in September for a planned autonomous bus route in Saudi Arabia.
  • The Chinese company also holds a permit to test autonomous vehicles without a human driver in California.
