According to Signifyd, fraud in global e-commerce operations will cost companies $206.8B in 2023. 

Signifyd also estimates that every $100 in fraudulent e-commerce orders results in $207 of losses for online retailers.


  • Signifyd, a fraud prevention solution provider, points out that fraud results in losses in shipped goods and increases in fulfillment and operational costs.
  • Moreover, e-commerce retailers can become too conservative and decline purchases that might not be fraudulent.
    • Signifyd found that recently 73% of declined orders were actually legitimate.
    • In fact, during the 2022 holidays, the fraud prevention company estimates that retailers turned down $24B worth of good orders for fear of fraud.
