Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) Digital Labs have collaborated to launch SportsX, a research, and development program that aims to innovate and enhance sporting events for both fans and sports teams.

This new program builds on the existing partnership between MLSE and AWS.

  • Headquartered in Toronto, MLSE Digital Labs is an innovation organization uniting business strategy and digital strategy to build competitive advantages through technology capabilities. MLSE owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, and other Canadian sports teams.
  • SportsX is centered on delivering extraordinary fan experiences, giving teams a winning edge, and creating a positive social and environmental impact. These three pillars enable solutions that can benefit the sports sector.
  • The expanded partnership allows MLSE to leverage AWS’s AI, ML, and deep learning cloud services to provide immersive sports experiences through AR/ER.
  • The program also includes a submission portal where stakeholders, coaches, and players can share their ideas to “create a powerhouse in sports innovation.”
