On Jan. 25, Amazon Web Services (AWS) opened a local zone in Lagos, Nigeria.  This will enable businesses in Nigeria to leverage AWS computing, storage, databases, and other services to deploy latency-sensitive workloads.      AWS has already established a presence in Nigeria, with several local offices, Amazon CloudFront edge locations, and AWS outposts.  Hakeem Popoola Fahm, the commissioner of Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology, referred to the local zone as “a significant milestone for our regional enterprises and digital transformation agenda.”  The cloud giant now boasts 32 AWS local zones worldwide and has recently launched local zones in Lima, Peru, and Querétaro, Mexico.
