GOOD NEWS: Students at a Nashville high school built a prosthetic hand for a disabled classmate.
Engineering teacher Jeff Wilkins suggested the project when he learned that 15-year-old Sergio Peralta was born with a right hand that did not fully form.
- The class spent four weeks designing, 3D printing, and fitting the prosthetic for their classmate.
- They tested the final product by playing catch with Peralta.
- Principal Bob Cotter said that the successful construction of a prosthetic hand for Peralta "is a testament to the students we have here who care about each other and the program that Jeff Wilkins has built."
