The big drop shows that Brexit is deterring EU students from enrolling in British universities.

More:

  • European students were previously charged the same enrollment fees as British students but starting in 2021, when the Brexit transition period ended, their fees increased.
  • Charley Robinson, head of global mobility at Universities UK International, said: "It’s simply not as easy as it used to be to come from the EU and work in the U.K." as it was before Brexit.
  • The number of foreign students from non-EU countries enrolling in British universities increased in 2021.
  • Last year, 32% of foreign students in the U.K. came from China and 23% from India.
