More than 1 million people signed up to try Microsoft's new AI-enabled Bing within the first 48 hours the waitlist became available, according to company executive Yusuf Mehdi.

Microsoft announced the new version of Bing on Tuesday.

  • That day, the new Bing went live in a limited preview, though that only includes pre-set queries to try out.
  • Users can join a waitlist to request full access to the AI-powered Bing. The early preview is expected to launch in the next few weeks.
  • The new Bing uses AI to search for and summarize web content in a conversational manner, showing annotated answers.
  • Additionally, the results page offers a new AI chat interface for users to converse with a chatbot about their search.
