22-year-old Dutch athlete Femke Bol broke one the oldest world records in track and field on Sunday.

 Her performance in the women's indoor 400 meters surpassed the record set by Jarmila Kratochvílová in 1982 by 0.33 seconds. 

  • Bol completed the indoor 400 meters race in 49.26 seconds during the Dutch Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn on Sunday.
  • Kratochvílová ran the race in 49.59 seconds, setting the longest-standing world record for track races.
  • Bol thanked her supporters after the race, saying that “it was because of all the fans here that I ran this record.”
  • She finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
