Amazon has announced that it will support India's Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).  The non-profit established by the Indian government seeks to "democratize" e-commerce in the country. Amazon said on Friday that it would integrate its logistics network and its SmartCommerce platform into India's Open Network for Digital Commerce. Amazon's SmartCommerce initiative is intended to digitize small shops The ONDC will provide an interoperable network that allows buyers and sellers to participate in transactions regardless of the app or service they use. The network is intended to challenge the dominance of U.S.-based firms in India's e-commerce sector. Both Amazon and its Walmart-backed competitor Flipkart are expected to be affected by the scheme.
