GOOD NEWS: An animal shelter reunited a homeless mother of two with her dog, Lilo.
Rescuers
made contact with the woman after Lilo was found with a note saying her
owner was homeless and could no longer afford to care for her.
- The McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee sent a team to retrieve Lilo in response to a call.
- Shelter
staff found a note attached to the dog in which the dog's owner wrote
that she was homeless and could no longer afford to keep her.
- "It is one of the saddest things I've ever read," said Lauren Mann, director of advancement at the shelter.
- The shelter was able to connect with Lilo's owner after reaching out on social media.
- Mann
said the animal center is "working with some local agencies in town to
help them find pet-friendly shelter," for the mother and her children.
