Apple is planning a cheaper second-generation version of its AR/VR headset that could arrive in 2025.

The more consumer-friendly hardware will follow the release of Apple's more advanced headset, due out later this year.

Apple is expected to announce the first "Reality Pro" headset at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The high-end premium device is projected to cost upwards of $3,000.

  • new report says Apple is now working on a second-generation device that will cost less, possibly in the territory of "a high-end Mac computer."
  • Furthermore, this cheaper headset is expected to come in either a low-end or higher-end model, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
  • Apple is now working with Foxconn and Pegatron/Luxshare venture Luxcaseict to develop and produce these cheaper models, respectively.
  • To reduce the costs, Apple is reportedly counting on Foxconn to further automate the hardware's assembly process.
