AWS partners with AI startup Hugging Face

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced on Feb. 21 that it has partnered with N.Y.-based AI startup Hugging Face to enable more AI and ML models on AWS services.

This new collaboration is likely part of a strategy for Amazon to catch up with other cloud giants that have already formed partnerships with booming AI companies.

  • Amazon is looking to leverage its partnership with Hugging Face to incorporate generative AI services into its offerings to keep up with the competition and keep its spot as the world’s biggest cloud provider in terms of market share.
  • Hugging Face specializes in tools for building applications using ML and aims to democratize AI through open source and open science. The startup provides a community where AI developers can share open-source code and models.
  • The partnership designates AWS as a preferred cloud provider, which enables developers to use AWS tools like Amazon SageMaker, AWS Trainium, AWS Inferentia, and others.
  • According to an AWS blog post, AWS services equipped with Hugging Face’s generative AI applications provide faster training and scaling, low latency, and higher throughput inference.
