Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands will jointly supply Ukraine with Leopard 1 tanks.
The countries pledged on Tuesday to provide at least 100 tanks and offer training, ammunition, and logistical support to counteract an expected Russian offensive.
- The three countries will jointly fund the restoration of at least 100 German-made Leopard 1 tanks.
- Between 20 and 25 tanks will arrive by the summer, said Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov after meeting with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius.
- Another 80 tanks are expected to be delivered by the end of the year, while a further 100 will be sent in 2024.
- German vice-chancellor Robert Habeck did not specify how many tanks are earmarked for Ukraine but said "it's a large number to repel Russia's spring offensive."
- Dutch Defence Minister Kasja Ollongren noted that the Leopard 1 is an older tank model but said they were being "fixed up and made battle-ready."
