Canadian supply chain and logistics software company Descartes has acquired U.S. cloud-based fleet management software provider GroundCloud in a $138M deal.
Descartes aims to leverage its acquisition to enhance its delivery capabilities and improve safety.
- Founded in 1981, Descartes specializes in SaaS for logistics and supply chains. Its software suite facilitates various logistics tasks such as delivery, invoices, documentation, and shipments.
- Descartes’ solutions are used among transportation companies, including Air Canada, The Emirates Group, The Home Depot, and United Parcel Service of America.
- Minneapolis-based GroundCloud offers an all-in-one safety, productivity, and compliance ecosystem for logistics.
- According to its website, GroundCloud’s cloud-based software system automates the management of safety, drivers, fleet, routes, HR, financial metrics, and compliance requirements and can be accessed through a management console and a tablet.
