EBay will lay off 4% of its workforce, which is about 500 employees.

CEO Jamie Iannone said the decision was made after analyzing the global macroeconomic environment in the past few months.

  • Iannone stated that the layoffs will allow eBay to invest in high-potential areas, new technologies, customer innovations, and key markets.
  • EBay announced the move on a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
  • Just last week, another tech company, Zoom, announced it will lay off 1,300 employees.
    • These layoffs add to Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce's recent layoffs, affecting 1,300, 12,000, and 7,000 employees, respectively.
