Five militants died in an Israeli military raid on a Palestinian refugee camp on Monday. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the deadly raid on the Jenin refugee camp last month.
- Five Palestinian gunmen died in a firefight at a refugee camp in the West Bank on Monday.
- Israeli
forces said they were attempting to apprehend militants responsible for
a failed attack at a restaurant in a Jewish settlement on the West Bank
last month.
- The attack reportedly failed due to a weapon malfunction and the suspects fled the scene.
- Monday's
operation comes days after Israeli forces entered the Aqabat Jabr camp
near the Palestinian city of Jericho in pursuit of the suspects.
- At least nine Palestinians, including militants and civilians, were killed in a raid on the Jenin refugee camp on Jan. 26.
- A day later, a Palestinian gunman opened fire outside a synagogue in east Jerusalem, killing seven people, including a 14-year-old.
