Former Google employee Praveen Seshadri has taken to the internet to express his deep concerns regarding the company’s underlying culture.
Seshadri co-founded AppSheet, a startup that Google Cloud acquired in 2020.
- AppSheet is a no-code mobile application-building platform with automation capabilities that Google Cloud purchased in Jan. 2020.
- Seshadri joined Google following the acquisition of AppSheet and was employed there until his departure in Jan. 2023.
- In a recent blog post, Seshadri shared his opinion on how a “once-great company has slowly ceased to function,” emphasizing how Google’s culture quells innovation due to what he refers to as a “maze of approvals, launch processes, legal reviews, performance reviews, executive reviews…” and so on.
- Seshadri details how many employees view Google’s recent mass layoffs as “a failure of management” or “a surrender to activist investors.”
