Home Depot earmarks $1B to boost wages

 

Home Depot delivered its Q4 earnings call on Tuesday. 

The home improvement retail giant missed Wall Street's revenue expectations and announced plans to spend $1B to boost employee wages.

Home Depot posted revenue of $35.83B, missing expectations of $35.97B, according to Refinitiv.

  • Earnings per share stood at $3.30, beating the $3.28 expected by analysts.
  • Total customer transactions declined by 6% YoY, while the average ticket cost was up 5.8%.
  • Home Depot will contribute an additional $1B to provide its workers with hourly pay raises.
  • The company said every worker will receive a starting wage of at least $15 per hour.
