Medical professionals in Canada spent three hours resuscitating a toddler who nearly drowned.
20-month-old Waylon Saunders was successfully revived and has "exceeded all expectations," according to doctors.
Waylon was taken to a hospital about 62 miles from London, Ontario after being found facedown and unresponsive in a swimming pool at a home daycare on Jan. 24.
- Hospital staff took turns performing CPR on the toddler for three hours until they managed to restore his pulse.
- A medical team then transported Waylon to a larger pediatric hospital, where he continued to receive critical care.
- Waylon has "exceeded all expectations," according to Dr. Janice Tijssen, director of the pediatric critical care unit at Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre.
- The daycare owner will appear before a court in the city of Sarnia in March to face charges of criminal negligence.
