 Meta could cut more jobs

1. Meta is said to be planning more cuts with the expectation they would take place sometime in March. It is unclear how many employees would be affected, but this would be the company's second layoff since 2022. 

2. The newly launched Indian social app Slick is in hot water after leaving users' personal information on the internet for months without a password. The app, which allows for anonymous conversations and compliments, is most commonly used by grade school and college students. 

3. Pinterest has relaunched the e-learning platform "Pinterest Academy" to offer businesses a learning resource to help better market their products. The courses are now available in seven languages and come at a time when businesses have pulled back on their ad spending.

4. Meta could add a paid blue checkmark feature to its Instagram and Facebook app. The move, which would follow the Twitter Blue approach, would create a paywall as a way to get verified.

5. Elon Musk reached 100 days at Twitter, which comes at a time when the company has taken on staff cuts, cost-cutting measures, and rolling out new products. Musk noted his goals remain to build up its subscription business through Twitter Blue and create a better product for users. 

6. The U.S. Surgeon General raised the alarm on social media and issued a public service campaign to parents about the dangers of mental health risks or even drug experimentation based on their child's social media habitats. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy went on to further advise parents to delay their kids' access up until the age of 16. 

7. Ohio joins other states in proposing age consent requirements for social media companies. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has proposed legislation that would mandate social media companies to create a verification page that confirms a user's age and acquire parental consent for any kid under the age of 16.
