Meta reported declining revenues with a 4% fall YoY in Q4 2022.

The decline comes as the average price per ad offered on its advertising network fell by 22% YoY.

  • Despite the decline in advertising costs, Meta reported that ad impressions were up 23% YoY.
  • Facebook also reached 2 billion daily active users in Q4 2022, credited to a new AI discovery engine and the launch of Instagram Reels providing TikTok-like short films on Facebook.
  • Meta also reported that 40% of advertisers that use its ad platform now offer their ads across all of Meta's apps.
  • Meta claims that Reels remain a primary focus for the company as they look to compete with TikTok despite its inability to monetize the feature and other aspects of its platform.
