Meta's next consumer-oriented headset will include full-color mixed-reality features, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.  The Meta Quest 2 currently only supports grayscale passthrough video.  Zuckerberg said in an earnings call that Meta will release its next-generation consumer headset later this year at a price point below the Quest Pro but including a feature used on the Pro to allow full-color passthrough video. In July 2022, Meta increased the price of both versions of its most popular VR headset by an extra $100 for both the 128GB and 256GB models. Pico, owned by China-based ByteDance, revealed the $425 Pico 4 last year, though the device is still unavailable in the U.S. market. According to Bloomberg, PSVR 2 sales expectations are below the company's anticipations. Meta recently won against the FTC for its $400M acquisition of VR fitness company Within.
