Amazon announced this week that it has completed its acquisition of One Medical, with the companies joining together in a mission to help people get better health care, when and how they need it. One Medical blends in-office and 24/7 virtual care services, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses, and mental health concerns. The services will bolster Amazon's ongoing efforts to improve customers' health care experience, including Amazon Pharmacy's online medication service and the new RxPass, a Prime benefit that offers 60 medications for a flat rate with free shipping. Amazon Clinic is also part of the mix, offering a personalized, affordable way to get medical advice and treatment for 20 common conditions by messaging a clinician. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, in a letter to customers, wrote that getting great health care is often too difficult and inconvenient. Jassy said Amazon, together with One Medical, is determined to help make it easy for customers to access the care, medication, and other products and services they need to get and stay healthy. "We're just at the beginning of what's possible," Jassy wrote. "Customers tell us there is a need to radically improve the health care experience, and we think we can help." For a limited time, One Medical membership is available to new U.S. customers for $144 (28% discount) for the first year. |
