On Feb. 22, the President of Microsoft Western Europe, Cindy Rose, announced that the company is launching a project to open a cloud region in Madrid, Spain.
While an exact timeline has not been provided, the construction of the cloud region is expected to take several months.
- A statement from the regional government of Madrid reveals that the cloud region and data centers will be located in the north and east of the autonomous community.
- Microsoft’s latest investment in Madrid is expected to contribute more than $5.3M to the region’s GDP from now until 2025 and will create over 13,200 new jobs.
- The cloud region will provide a range of Microsoft cloud services to clients in Spain. It will also enable various collaborative projects for digital training, employability, technical entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.
