U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered Sam Bankman-Fried to stop using encrypted services to communicate with FTX and Alameda employees.

The disgraced crypto CEO was reportedly using Signal to send encrypted messages to establish relationships.

  •  Legal teams have until Feb. 7 to make arguments for and against the bail modification order.
  • Prosecutors argued that SBF is using apps like Signal to communicate with external parties, which can be seen as "witness tampering."
  • Bankman-Fried's legal team argued the communication efforts were "merely an innocuous attempt to offer assistance in FTX's bankruptcy process and do not reflect misconduct."
