My Big Coin founder Randall Crater has been sentenced to 100 months in prison for crypto fraud.  Crater made false and misleading statements to investors about My Big Coin being backed by gold, the court found. Crater was also ordered to repay $7.7M. His attorneys will likely appeal.  "I did not set out to steal money from anyone," he said. "That does not mean I am not remorseful," says Crater in court.  He was found guilty of committing wire fraud, making unlawful monetary transactions, and causing investors to lose $7.5M from 2014 to 2017.  The 100-month sentence is nearly halfway between the 13-year sentence federal prosecutors asked for and the 30 months Crater's team requested. The case sets a precedent for the claim that virtual currency can be deemed a commodity.
