Alameda, California-based climate tech startup Andes raised $30M in Series A funding. Andes provides a carbon removal program by using beneficial microorganisms to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into minerals on its farmlands. Incoming funds will help the firm expand its carbon credits program and develop its biological nitrogen technology. 

  • To date, the firm has raised $38M in venture funding. 
  • Leaps by Bayer, Carvallo Ventures, and Germin8 participated in the funding round. 
  • Other notable previous backers of the firm include Voyager VC, Yamaha Motor Ventures, KdT Ventures, and Accelr8. 
  • Andes claims it had removed 50,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.
