California-based networking, cloud, and security solutions provider Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Israeli cloud cybersecurity startup Lightspin.
Neither company has disclosed the financial terms of the deal, but it is speculated to be worth $200M-$250M.
Lightspin launched in 2020 and has raised $20M in total.
- The startup specializes in cloud security posture management (CSPM) and offers a platform that protects cloud and Kubernetes environments from build to runtime.
- According to its website, Lightspin leverages agentless graph-based technology to visualize, prioritize, and remediate critical cloud risks without a custom configuration.
Lightspin’s main competitors include Orca Security, Lacework, Liz, and Palo Alto Networks.
- Cisco also acquired cloud security startup Valtix for an undisclosed sum in Feb. 2023 and several other cloud security companies over the past few years, including Kenna Security, Portshift, Duo Security, Sentryo, Observable Networks, and Cloud Lock.
