Google Cloud's VP Amit Zavery has accused Microsoft of having "a very anti-competitive posture in cloud."
The Alphabet-owned tech giant has taken its concerns to European Union (EU) antitrust regulators, who have already launched a probe against Microsoft.
- Zavery criticized Microsoft's policies that apply to its deals with European cloud vendors, specifically accusing the software giant of establishing "pricing and licensing restrictions," which "make it difficult for them to choose other providers."
- Google Cloud went so far as to claim that its customers have complained about Microsoft's "bundling practices."
- Zarvery argues that the aforementioned deals with European cloud vendors exclusively benefit Microsoft, alleging that "They're selectively kind of buying out those ones who complain and not make those terms available to everyone."
- Microsoft recently offered to modify its cloud computing practices to ward off the current EU antitrust investigation. However, what those changes will look like is unclear, as the company has not yet shared its plans.
