Chipotle Mexican Grill is launching a new menu item based on a recent TikTok trend.
The new item, a Fajita Quesadilla, will be available starting tomorrow.
- The item started as a menu hack by TikTok creators Alexis Frost and Keith Lee. The hack by Alexis Frost was to order a steak quesadilla and add extra cheese and fajita veggies. Keither Lee then added a custom sauce to Alexis' hack.
- The new items will be available on the digital menu when ordering on the app or the company's website but will remain a "hack" if someone wants to order it at the restaurant.
- The items will have names that credit their creation to the TikTokers — the "Fajita Quesadilla Hack" and the "Keithadilla." Both items will be available only for a limited time.
- Chipotle's CMO, Chris Brandt, said that this shows that brands can use social media as a two-way street to communicate with consumers, understand their preferences, and deliver accordingly.
