A recent CoreLogic report revealed that demand by investors for single-family home purchases plateaued in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The investor purchase share reached 26% in September and remained stable after dropping to 21% in June.
Purchases made by investor buyers saw a 25% YoY decline, reaching an average of 81,000 homes. However, the purchases aligned with investor activity in Q4 of 2019 and 2020.
- Owner-occupied purchases were well below the level of activity seen in 2019 and 2020
- The share of mega-investors declined from 11% in September to 9% in December, while small investor shares increased from 45% to 48%.
- iBuyers made 0.3% of all investor purchases in December, declining from 1.2% in September.
