Google announced plans to open its second Italian cloud region in Turin .  

The company recently opened the country’s first Google Cloud region in Milan. 

  • Both Italian Google Cloud regions are hosted by Italian telecommunications giant TIM. 
  • Google Cloud claims the Milan and Turin cloud regions will provide highly available and sustainable cloud services with data sovereignty and residency functionality that adhere to Italian standards. 
  • The new cloud regions will enable local public and private sector organizations to accelerate digital transformations and run mission-critical applications with low latency. 
  • An independent economic impact study conducted by students from the University of Turin and the Catholic University of Milan predicts that the Piedmont (Turin) and Lombardy (Milan) cloud regions could contribute up to $3.6B to the local economy by 2025.
