Google discontinues Glass Enterprise

 

Google has discontinued sales of its Google Glass Enterprise version after a decade.  Support for the Glass Enterprise Edition device and existing software will continue until Sept. 15, 2023. Third parties are responsible for maintaining their apps, and no further software updates from Google are planned. Google shifted its focus toward exploring the headset's potential for businesses and developers in 2015. Big tech companies, including Meta, Apple, and Microsoft, are pursuing head-mounted visualization technologies. Google has not abandoned its pursuit of AR and is testing prototypes of AR glasses. Google Glass was reportedly unsuccessful due to its design and privacy concerns.
