H&M has partnered with Thredup to launch its own resale service.
The move comes as part of the clothing retailer's effort to create a circular business model.
- H&M said it would launch a resale shop called "H&M Pre-Loved" that is powered by ThredUp's Resale-as-a-Service offering.
- Abigail Kammerzell, head of sustainability at H&M North America, said that the company needs to "take responsibility for the impact fashion has on climate and the environment."
- She said the new resale shop would be a "big step" toward establishing a "circular business model" that is intended to reduce the company's environmental impact.
- Fast-fashion retailer Shein collaborated with recommerce technology company Treet to develop a resale platform, while Eddie Bauer and Moosejaw plan to develop resale options with Arrive and Recurate.
