Variety reported that HBO Max is developing a scripted series about infamous "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss.
"The Staircase" vet Maggie Cohn is writing the scripts and will produce
the series, with Fleiss personally involved as a consultant.
- Fleiss
operated a prostitution ring in Los Angeles that reportedly catered to
an elite clientele including actors, directors, and star athletes; she
was arrested in the early 1990s and served nearly two years in prison.
- In
the years since, Fleiss has written books about her experiences and
starred in multiple reality shows, including "Celebrity Rehab with Dr.
Drew" and "Celebrity Big Brother."
- USA Network previously produced a film about Fleiss in 2004, "Call Me," starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
- In addition to "The Staircase," Cohn also wrote on "Narcos: Mexico" and "The Assassination of Gianni Versace."
