Intel chief architect Raja Koduri is departing the company to form a software company focused on generative AI for gaming, entertainment, and media, according to CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Koduri has worked at Intel since 2017. Prior to being a chief architect, he was the EVP of its accelerated computing systems and graphics unit (AXG).

Koduri did not provide further details on his AI software startup, saying only that he would have more to share in the "coming weeks."

  • Koduri led AXG until December when Intel underwent a restructuring that split AXG into separate groups.
  • At that time, Koduri returned to become Intel's chief architect for GPUs and accelerators.
  • Prior to Intel, Koduri worked for AMD and Apple. He is also a technical adviser to Makuta VFX, an Indian animation and visual effects company.
