launching startup accelerator programs

In light of International Women’s Day, Google and Amazon are launching startup accelerator programs to support India’s female startup founders.

Both companies’ early-stage accelerators aim to provide female founders with equal access to capital, mentorship, and other invaluable resources.

According to Paul Ravindranath, Program Manager at Google for Startups Accelerator India, women currently represent less than 18% of the country’s startup leaders and founders.

  • Google launched its first ‘Google for Startups Accelerator’ in India last year.
  • Google’s accelerator program lasts three months and provides curriculum and collaboration opportunities, capital, mentorship, and tech resources for women entrepreneurs. To promote greater female representation, Google created a $75M fund to invest in women-led startups.
  • Amazon, together with VC fund Lightspeed, has launched ‘AccelerateHer 2023’, an early-stage accelerator with the goal of connecting 20 women-led startups with industry leaders as well as providing access to mentorship, resources, and AWS cloud services.
