Mars Inc. plans to trial a "store hailing" service in California.
The consumer packaged goods company will launch the project in partnership with food robotics firm Conjure.
In spring this year, Mars will provide customers in the Hollywood section of Los Angeles with access to mobile ice cream stores.
- Customers will be able to hail the robotic vehicles using a mobile app made by Conjure.
- Conjure's payment system is checkout-free, allowing customers to simply select their preferred ice cream and walk away.
- Mars and Conjure aim to expand the project to other locations by the end of 2023.
