Microsoft is launching a preview of its latest version of Teams.
The upgraded communications app is said to be up to twice as fast but able to use 50% fewer resources than the previous version.
The new Teams is now in a public preview, allowing businesses that opt into the program to try out the app.
- Installing Teams is three times faster and launching or joining meetings is up to two times faster. Switching between channels and chats is 1.7 times faster.
- According to Microsoft, the app consumes 50 percent less memory and uses 70 percent less disk space.
- In addition to speed improvements, Teams will now display each participant on screen in the same size box, rather than showing larger boxes to users with their cameras enabled.
- The company also announced that Teams now has 280 million monthly active users, up from 270 million in January 2022.
- The new Teams will roll out to all users later this year.
