The Hollywood Reporter spoke with a number of entertainment industry creatives about the new trend of streamers pulling completed shows and films from their platforms.
"Glass Onion" filmmaker and "Poker Face" co-creator Rian Johnson told THR "it's been horrifying," adding "in the history of the business, there has been a constant evolution of horrible things."
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer argued that there is some cause for optimism, noting "if the work's good, it'll be on the air."
- Recently, Netflix opted to pass on two completed films that were set to debut on the platform: "The Inheritance" and "House/Wife."
- Showtime and AMC Networks have also released finished seasons of TV recently that they no longer planned to distribute, as a way of cutting costs.
