A British court denied Amazon's bid to throw out sample lawsuits brought by delivery drivers.

Over 1,400 drivers who deliver Amazon parcels allege that the e-commerce giant should classify them as employees rather than as self-employed contractors.

  • The drivers are suing Amazon through a London employment tribunal in a bid to gain employment rights, including minimum wage and holiday pay.
  • Amazon applied to have the allegations thrown out last month on the grounds that it has no contractual relationship with the drivers.
  • The tribunal rejected Amazon's application on Monday and ruled that the lawsuits filed against Amazon should proceed.
  • The tribunal said that it could not be certain that the drivers would be unable to prove that they have a "worker relationship" with Amazon.
