A train derailed in Paradise, Montana, spilling cases of beer across a river bank.
Around
25 cars derailed in the incident, but there were no injuries or risks
to public safety, and no hazardous materials were released.
- The spilled beer, Coors Light and Blue Moon, was secured in the derailment area and did not float down the river.
- Officials
have not yet determined the cause of the derailment, which is the
latest in a series of train incidents in the United States in the past
few months.
- A bipartisan group of senators introduced the
Railway Safety Act of 2023 after the East Palestine derailment earlier
this year to improve rail safety.
- The act would require rail
carriers to give advance notice to state emergency responders about what
they're transporting, increase rail inspections for rail cars, and
require crews of at least two people for every train.
- In
recent months, other train derailments have occurred in Minnesota,
Arizona, Alabama, Ohio, West Virginia, Kansas, and Nebraska.
