Bed Bath & Beyond has been hit with another lawsuit.
A former store manager is suing the struggling retailer shortly after former CEO Mark Tritton began litigation in a bid to recover his severance package.
- Former store manager Michael Palmeri filed a lawsuit over Bed Bath & Beyond's decision to close all of its Harmon stores.
- Palermi
alleges that the company violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining
Notification Act by failing to give him enough advance notice ahead of
his layoff on March 2 this year.
- The lawsuit also alleges that
the firm failed to pay Palermi and other laid-off workers what they were
owed following the terminations.
- The lawsuit seeks damages
that cover what Palermi is allegedly owed in addition to attorney's fees
and severance pay equal to a week for each year of employment.
- Bed
Bath & Beyond shut down its Harmon stores as part of a larger
turnaround strategy to reduce expenses as the company works to avoid
bankruptcy.
